Family Day at Casper Bluff: Insectopedia

Bring the whole family to the Casper Bluff Land & Water Reserve for “Insectopedia.” JDCF's first ever Family Day program is open to the public and will feature the amazing world of insects.

Every tiny buzzing, crawling, and hovering insect has an important job in our ecosystem. Pollinators, decomposers, soil movers, and us, all rely on each other for survival. During this program we will explore our reliance on insects through a “Web of Life” activity, then visit four types of no-kill insect traps to take a close-up look at the insect community at Casper Bluff.

Before departure, everyone will make prairie seed bombs to take home as a way to encourage insect diversity in your own back yard. This is a free program with RSVP’s required at www.jdcf.org/events. Maximum 15 kids per event. (photo (c) Barbara Baird)
