The Galena LitFest

Enjoy a cup of tea with Jane Austen at the Galena LitFest Sat., Jan. 13, brush up on your skills at various writers’ workshops and dine with award-winning indie author Daniel Rosenberg and New York Times bestselling author, Jennifer Chiaverini. The setting for this day of literature is Desoto House Hotel, the oldest operating hotel in Illinois, where President Abraham Lincoln once spoke from its Main Street balcony and Ulysses S. Magical Masquerade Ball

Masked in mystery and draped in style, arrive for a magical night of fun and fashion at the Magical Masquerade Ball Sat., Jan. 20, to celebrate all genres of art in Galena. This celebration is held at the Galena Cellars Tasting Room with entertainment including, live music by Kristina & Shawn, a magic show by P.T. Murphy Magic, dance by Amanda Kevern, a live art demo by Heather Houzenga and a silent art auction by Galena Center for the Arts. Heavy appetizers, dessert, wine and beer is served.

 

Galena Whiskey Weekend

Cheers to liquid sunshine! A sure way to warm up this winter is to sip on more than 100 whiskeys at Galena Whiskey Weekend Sat., Jan 27. The event will at the historic Turner Hall, a treasured gathering place by the citizens of Galena for more than 125 years, just steps away from the Helluva Half Mile. This historic Main Street offers more than 120 19th Century storefronts of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants, one door after another.
