Overview
Where the land and water meet, this property runs continuously from Mississippi River water’s edge to the bluff tops above. The 35 acre preserve is home to many archeological features and natural resource gems including a large bear effigy mound, several linear and conical Native American mounds along with rock shelters that were occupied by archaic peoples from long ago.
Cultural history on this site also includes some of the oldest lead mining pits in the county dating back to pre-settlement.
Trails on this site are rugged and the terrain is demanding but the views and the cultural history are well worth the effort!
